A farmer accidentally rides through the gateway to the Otherworld into a Pixy Fair. Hundreds of years later a group of friends set up a new festival in a field; an orgy of music, glitter, fairy-wings and makebelieve.
These facts are going to become connected. There is going to be screaming.
Goblin Fair is a storytelling performance of ancient tales about the Fair Folk in a very modern setting that anyone who has been to a British music festival lately will recognise. But beware, for these are traditional fairies; frightening, capricious, and as likely to rob your tent and curse you as grant you a wish. They don’t have wings, they don’t grant wishes and they never, ever, wear glitter…
Lisa is a storyteller based in Frome and tells tales rooted in the British landscape. Her passion for reintroducing the joy and power of storytelling to adult audiences led her to create Mr Rook’s Speak Easy in 2014. She also has worked at a lot of festivals. This is the first time she has been the featured teller at the club and the first Mr Rook’s event to be held at the Granary. This is the second time out for Goblin Fair, a new show that premiered in a tent in a field this summer.
