ADD International was founded in Frome over 30 years ago. Now, with support from people in Frome and from other donors, hundreds of thousands of disabled people around the world have access to the services they need. It’s one of the many ways that Frome has been linking local to global.
ADD has, for many years, also worked at the United Nations to influence the drafting of Global Goals that make a commitment to “leave no one behind”, a sentiment that fits well with Frome’s inclusive approach and encouragement of organisations that support the needs of children and adults with disabilities.
We are hoping to remind people of ADD’s heritage in the town and to work with other disability organisations to bring more attention to the need to “leave no one behind”. To start to do that, we are organising a Summer Funday on Wednesday 18th July from 3pm to 6pm at The Silk Mill (Merchants Barton, Saxonvale, Frome BA11 1PT). We hope that you and your family, friends and colleagues can join us for a fun afternoon with lots of tea and cake, face painting, games, arts and crafts, a film screening and photo exhibition. We’ll also be raising money for our current campaign supporting disability activists in Bangladesh.
The event will be hosted by Peter Macfadyen, one of the founders of ADD and former Mayor of Frome and Barbara Frost, former CEO of both ADD and WaterAid and long-time resident of Frome. Local entrepreneur Gavin Eddy will also be supporting us in this initiative and helping us to reach out to others in the town who might do the same.
For more information about this event, including accessibility or to RSVP, please email Gemma at gemma.white@add.org.uk. We really look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, 18 July.
