Frome Symphony: Elgar Cello Concerto & Rachmaninoff Symphony No 2

Frome Symphony presents a programme of masterpieces from the Romantic era. Principal cellist Chris Hurn is the soloist in Elgar’s concerto, which was composed at the end of the first world war and has become one of the most popular works in the repertoire. The second half of the concert is devoted to Rachmaninov’s second symphony, full of beautiful, soaring melodies interspersed with moments of high drama. Frome Symphony is conducted by its music director, Mark Gateshill
