Abigail Reed – The Gloaming Hour

Atmospheric drawings inspired by walks at dusk through the streets of Frome, down the lanes and into the fields and woodlands that surround us.

Rich charcoal is used to capture the shadows we walk past as day turns to night. The skeletal branches on trees are drawn with extreme precision as they reach up to touch a darkening deep blue sky. You may even see the moon hanging silently above as you walk through this works on paper show.

Abigail is a local artist based at The Silk Mill studios. She describes herself as a Modern Ruralist who works predominantly on paper with charcoal, soft pastel and watercolour making drawings of the surrounding landscape.
