Visible Mending for Creative Clothing Repair Workshop

In the past, mending techniques such as darning were commonplace in the lifespan of a garment and taught widely.

This workshop is a brief introduction to darning and how to use it in an intentionally visible way.

Once a craft that was made to be invisible, I want to share the joy of repairing in colourful and creative ways to wear your repairs as a badge of pride whilst honouring the craft of the traditional techniques.

Beginner level – no experience needed.

All materials provided but an item of clothing to be repaired can be brought along.

Access, 1st floor lift available.

Maximum participants 8. A ‘Woven in Time’ event within Frome Local History Festival (12-20 May 2023).
