Events Calendar Round-up: June 2023

Hold on to your hats!  There are so many fantastic events on in Frome this June, it’s hard to know where to start!

Frome Pride – 1st -10th

Join in with Frome’s Pride celebrations of LGBTQIA+ people, run by the community of Frome and the surrounding area. 

Throughout June, local businesses, performers and residents of Frome will be coming together to show their love and appreciation for the LGBTQIA+ community. 

Hutch – 2nd

Playing at the Merlin on its way to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Hutch is an award-winning, contemporary comedy with a serious streak, examining the injustices and absurdities of renting in reduced circumstances.

Celebrate Me – 8th

Really Truly Theatre Company presents Celebrate Me and engaging, funny and moving new comedy drama at the Merlin Theatre.

Barbara is turning 92 and her birthday preparations are in full swing. The music will be vintage, the buffet won’t be beige and the guest list is nearly complete.  But behind the party balloons and banners, Barbara and her granddaughter Sophie are planning an alternative celebration which could shake up the relationships of six women for good.

An Evening of ABBA – 9th

Stars from London’s West End, including former cast from the smash hit musical Mamma Mia! come together to perform a dazzling concert of ABBA’s sensational music at the Frome Memorial Theatre.

Backed by a fabulous West End band, led by Mamma Mia’s former touring musical director Richard Weeden, this one-night concert spectacular is an evening no ABBA fan should miss!

Great Big Green Week – 10th – 18th

Frome’s Great Big Green Week keeps getting bigger and better!

Back for its third year the nine day programme is  packed full of a range of events and activities for all ages, including walks, talks, workshops, clothes swaps and lots more.

Actress and singer Suzanne Noble celebrates the timeless songs of one of the most influential lyricists of the 20th century, Dorothy Fields, including classic hits like Hey, Big Spender, I Can’t Give You Anything But Love and A Fine Romance.

Frome Ska Reggae Weekender – 16th & 17th

Two nights celebrating ska and reggae at the Cheese &  Grain.

Friday night welcomes Legend: The Music of Bob Marley plus support from Troy Ellis.

Saturday night, legendary front man of The Specials, Neville Staple, takes to the stage, plus support from D’Ska Assassins.

Photo|Frome – 24th June – 12th July

Photo Frome 2023

Photo|Frome returns with a new theme ‘Decolonising Environments’, exploring the complex and often conflicting relationships between human communities, places and the natural world.

Exhibition spaces across the town will play host to local, national and international photographers, with the addition of talks and workshops.

Keith Brymer-Jones – 30th

Spend a hilarious and uplifting evening with renowned British designer, bestselling author and Great Pottery Throw Down judge, Keith Brymer Jones, as he shares stories of life in front of and behind the potter’s wheel from the Frome Memorial Theatre stage.

The Haunting of Richard III – 30th

First performed on the ECOS Amphitheatre at the Frome Festival 2022, Kairos Theatre Company revives “The Haunting of Richard the Third” indoors at the Merlin Theatre for one night only, prior to an exciting tour of this new musical written by Martin Dimery and David Hynds.
