In need of some fun ideas to keep the kids happy and entertained this summer holidays? Have a look at the fantastic selection of camps and workshops on offer as well as some activities you can do with the little ones on your days off.

Camps & Clubs running throughout the summer
Dramakarma Summer Club – Cloud 9 – 29th – 30th July
Join Dramakarma and Super Roots for two days of exciting drama and games leading to a relaxed performance. Brilliant outdoor drama with imaginative play, story building and making to stretch the imagination and meet friends!
Bridging Nature Wilderness Survival Club – 12th, 19th, 30th & 31st August
Offering unique Day Camps and Overnight Adventures, where children can connect with nature, enjoy making new friends and learn wilderness survival skills on a whole other level! Based in Birch Hill Wood, near Witham Friary, for children aged 8 – 12.
Nova Sports and Coaching Holiday Activities – various dates between 24th July – 28th August
Nova provide unique opportunities for fun and inclusive sports activity for children with additional needs and their siblings. A variety of sports are available for booking including bouldering, hydrotherapy, powerchair football, multi sports and gymnastics.
Premier Education Multi-Activity Camps – 29th July – 15th August
Premier Education Multi-Activity camps introduce children to a wide variety of sports, including basketball, football and tennis to name just a few. These huge, exciting sessions offer the chance to try more sports than you can kick a ball at! For 4-12 year olds. Monday – Friday 9am – 3pm. Funded spaces available.
IG Sports Holiday Camps – 25th July – 30th August
IG Sports are hosting holiday clubs and camps open to children of all abilities aged between 5 – 11 throughout the summer. Camps run Monday – Friday, 9am – 3pm (early drop off & late pick up options are available at an additional cost). Funded spaces available.
Hidden Woods Forest School Holiday Clubs – 29th July – 29th August
Get the kids outside for a chance to have a go at bushcraft, environmental art, woodland crafts and games, campfire cooking, journeying through the woods and of course, free play. For children that need to be dropped earlier or collected later, we have supervised free play in the camp from 8.30 – 10am and 4 – 5.30pm. These can be added to your booking using our online booking system. Sessions run Monday-Thursday, 10am – 4pm. For 8-13 year olds.
Maverick Mums Summer Forest Club – 31st July and 1st, 15th, 28th, 29th & 30th August
Luke Newman, a highly experienced local bushcraft and outdoor learning expert has created nature-connected, full-day, summer holiday experiences for children – deep in the heart of the ancient Forest of Ammerdown – shelter building, fire making, cooking food together over the fire, wood craft, storytelling, lots of games – chill out under the canopy of the trees in a ‘woodland camp’ nestled within the grounds of the Ammerdown, just outside Frome. For ages 7+. £35pp/day.
YMCA Summer Holiday Activity Club – 24th & 31st July and 7th, 21st & 28th August
Tennis Club – Summer Camps, various dates throughout August at Frome Tennis Club and Beckington Tennis Club
Shared Earth Learning Forest School – 30th July – 29th August
Shared Earth Learning present five weeks of Holiday Forest School fun at their site at Vallis Veg in Frome from 30th July – 29th August.

Rewild with your Child 13th to 16th August
A unique 3-night family experience designed to foster a deepening connection with nature and with each other.
An invitation to swap screens and busyness for simple joys with your family – to slow down and immerse yourselves in a rewilded landscape. Enjoy nourishing family friendly meals freshly prepared by our retreat chefs and leave feeling inspired, revived and reconnected with the natural world and each other.
Rugby Tots Running throughout the Summer
Our fun, structured play sessions take children on a journey of sporting imagination, with engaging and energetic coaches supporting them every step of the way while teaching how to catch, pass, kick, run with the ball and play as part of a team.
Jackdaws Summer Production – 5th – 9th August
The Jackdaws Summer Production is a fun, stimulating and exciting way for children aged 10 – 17 to spend a week in the summer holidays discovering how to create a show from scratch. Assisted by the production team, the group will create their show over the course of the week and perform it live to an audience on the Friday afternoon.
Things to do with the kids…
Palette & Pasture Maize Maze – 27th July – 1st September
Visit our 4 acre living maize maze. A fantastic day out for the whole family. Come see if you can follow the clues to conquer the maze and win yourself a medal. This years maze is in the shape of a Dinosaur!
Playday – 7th August
Join Rainbow Flow Yoga and the POD Scrapstore on Rodden Meadow for an afternoon of free activities. Enjoy a yoga inspired adventure session and imaginative play. Bring a picnic.
Frome Children’s Festival – 21st July
The Children’s Festival is a free community event offering around 40 activities for children and families to enjoy. It is likely to include storytelling, forest school, arts and crafts, music, sports, magic, fun science, theatre, a sensory tent and more.
YMCA Fun Day – 14th August
Join the YMCA Frome Youth Club for a Fun Day in Victoria Park!
Activities include: crafts, music, outdoor games, inflatable super slide, scavenger hunt, festival make-up and hair tinsel along with food and a chill out zone when you need to re-energise.
Open to all young people aged 10-19.
The Pod Summer Events – 15th July – 13th August
The Pod supports young people and adults with additional needs, Young Carers and their families and can help you find friends and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment. There are several really fun events running over the summer for all to join in and make the most of the holidays!
Books-based Activity Mornings – 26th July and 9th & 16th August
Enjoy a family learning adventure with three books-based activity mornings for little ones at Frome Library, 10 am – 12pm. The mornings involve making, crafting and playing together! Suitable for children 0 – 7 years old and free for everyone (older siblings welcome). The books are family favourites The Gruffalo – 26th July, Where the Wild Things Are – 9th August and Tabby McTat – 16th August.
SEN Multi-sports camp – 5th August
For young people with additional needs and their siblings aged 9-12. This multi-sports camp run by Somerset Cricket is an exciting way for kids to play, learn skills and make new friends.
Play Trolley on Tour – 25th July and 1st, 7th, 15th, 22nd & 29th August
Come along to a free scrap play session with The POD this summer at locations across Frome. The popular Play Trolley in Victoria Park is going on tour, bringing weird and wonderful scrap to green spaces around Frome for fun and imaginative play!
No booking necessary – just bring some suitable footwear and your creativity!
Unusual Adventures of Robin Hood – 24th July
Hobgoblin Theatre Company’s brilliantly original, outdoor production of “The Unusual Adventures of Robin Hood” tells the classic tale of Robin and his Merry Men outwitting the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham with more than a little help from Maid Marian. But this time they are singing!
Not to be missed this summer! Bring your picnics!

Walk ‘n’ Talk – 27th August
Young Somerset are offering young people the chance to get out, get active and have some supportive conversation around mental health. If you or someone you know are aged 13+ and fancy getting out for some fresh air and a chat, make sure you sign up.

Frome Library Summer Reading Challenge – dates throughout summer
There are lots of great creative FREE events on offer for this years Summer Reading Challenge! Marvellous Makers workshops show children how to make friendship bracelets suncatchers and even your very own book! Lots going on in the library so pop in and find out more.
