Strauss: Four Last Songs featuring Esther Mallett
Mahler: Symphony No. 5
Immerse yourself in an evening of musical delight with the Frome Symphony Orchestra with Richard Strauss’s “Four Last Songs” offers a contemplative exploration of life’s themes through music. Composed towards the end of his career, these songs reflect on life, love, and the passage of time with profound simplicity.
The “Four Last Songs” will be brought to life by a talented soprano soloist, Esther Mallett, whose voice will delicately intertwine with the orchestra. Through her interpretation of Strauss’s texts, she will convey the poignant essence of these songs, touching the audience’s hearts.
Soprano Esther Mallett studied at Oxford University and trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and ENO Opera Works. Engagements in the 24/25 season include multiple covers at the Royal Opera House including Karolka Jenufa with incoming Music Director Jakub Hrůša, Rene Festen (world premiere) and 1 st Bridesmaid Le Nozze di Figaro in the iconic production by Sir David McVicar. She makes concert appearances with Southampton Choral Society (Mozart Requiem/Vespers and Brahms Requiem) and the City of Bristol Choir (Handel Dixit Dominus/Vivaldi Lauda Jerusalem).
Esther spent her teenage years in North Somerset where she received the foundations of her musical education and is delighted to be returning to Frome Symphony for this concert.
