New award for The Frome Independent
Congratulations to The Frome Independent who have been named Best Food & Farmers Market at the 2017 Western Daily Press Food & Farming Awards.
The award was open to markets from across Somerset, Gloucestershire, Dorset, Wiltshire and Devon, but the judges said that they were impressed with the way that The Frome Independent celebrate and champion regional food and drink.
The Frome Independent have said that the award is a a reflection of all the dedication and hard work put in by the food traders, from the farmers and growers in Somerset Farmers Markets, to the incredible street food innovators that are welcomed each month. They thanked them all for helping make each month so diverse and delicious!
Don’t forget June’s market will be on Sunday 4 June. On offer will be the usual eclectic mix of festival vibes, contemporary craft and vintage treasures.
There will also a few unexpected additions, courtesy of students of Frome Community College. The winning team of year 9 students of the College’s Enterprise Challenge will be showing off their hard work when they’ll invite Village Green visitors into their interactive Polaroid photo booth and to enjoy a smoothie made by pedal-powered blender. At the Village Green, further fun and games for families can be found with a DIY disguise workshop from Frome’s Doodlebug Club. You can also meet small animals with Pet Stop, or simply relax and enjoy the sound of the Vintage Mobile Disco. Music-lovers can expect a another great line up on the Market Place Stage too, which this month takes on a folk theme with local musicians playing throughout the day.
