Rachel Clark’s World Record Attempt
My annual fundraiser this year is an attempt at breaking a world record. My brother and I and 8 willing (sort of) volunteers need to climb a 30ft fire ladder (exact ladder not featured in the promo vid as it arrived later) continuously for 8hrs. The current record is held by a team of firefighters from Kent who broke the record back in 2014. It’s basically the furthest distance reached in 8 hrs they managed over 42,000m or 4 and a half times the height of Everest. I’m scared of heights hence the ‘challenge’ so we’ve been training on a scaffolding tower on the Frome trading estate for over 2 months to be match fit. In terms of endurance it’s ridiculously tough.
We’ll be raising money for two local causes Jamie Mines and WHY, a cancer counselling charity based in Frome.
Our challenge takes place next Sunday 2nd July (not June as promo video states) outside Frome library in the heart of the Independent Market 8.30-4.30pm.
I’m not expecting anyone to come and watch me climb a ladder for 8hrs, but, if you’re at the Independent market anyway come and give us a cheer or alternatively we have a just giving page for donations..
