Bessie Bidder
Bessie Bidder is a Frome based self employed fibre artist. She has made most things out of felt, from massive wall hangings to tiny three dimensional finger puppets. Bessie combines wet felting and dry needle felting in her work and always uses nature or the natural environment as inspiration.
Other than individual work she works regularly with Special Educational Needs children using felt making therapeutically. She teaches community workshops in Frome to children and adults in local schools and has made lots of collaborative projects in schools and the community in Frome and surrounding area, some with Arts Council England funding. This year Bessie has been focusing on felt animals and finger puppets.
Bessie welcomes commissions of felt pictures or three dimensional creatures. Next year she is hoping to work with the children, adults and community groups of Peasedown St John to make a big felt Picture for their community centre.
Bessie sells her felt animals in the Black Swan Arts shop and sells pictures and animal sculptures to individuals through word of mouth, Instagram and Facebook and her website.
