Have you ever wondered why Bath Street is not on the Bath side of town, what is cheap about Cheap Street or why Gentle Street is not gentle? If so, this is the walk for you.
This walk will explain the origins and folklore of the names of places, streets, and pubs of Frome, taking in the development of the English language and the history of the town along the way.
We will meet outside the entrance to the Discover Frome Information Point (Black Swan Arts) and finish at Waterloo by the Jenson Button Bridge. The walk is about 1.5km or just under a mile long and should take around an hour and a half. There is one set of steps, with a step-free alternative and our route will include some steep cobbled streets.
Led by local historian and storyteller Lisa Kenwright.
