An art exhibition like no other! T
The Silk Mill is host to a combination of internationally famous and talented local artists (of which Frome has an abundance) who join together in support of Refugee Action in Somerset East. The centre of the hall has an array of market stalls, selling an array of crafts – ceramics, glass, ‘scraptor’ sculptures, wire work- which provides the visitor with a multitude of opportunity to buy some original work to enhance their home.
For those who think art exhibitions are boring; think again! There will be a bar and cafe throughout the event. Children will have opportunity to get creative at their own stall with lots of original ideas to stimulate their creativity. Everyone will have chance to be part of a community painting, entitled ‘Home’ (as refugees do not have one)The finished work will be the focus of the surprise auction on Sunday afternoon. Both days, there will be a portrait artist in residence, so you can sit for your own £-1-a-minute portrait! And, to add to the atmosphere, the Frome Town Bandits will be playing through town to Silk Mill at mid day on Saturday and in the afternoon Frome’s very own Frukes are entertaining us at 3pm. Finally, on Sunday the wonderful Songbirds will be singing for us at mid day.
These combinations rarely occur under one roof, so come and enjoy the best variety that Frome can offer!
