Need something to look forward in January?
Forget those January blues for a night and take yourself on a journey into the rhythmical and historical journey through Afrocuban music and culture starting off with a documentary film on “Bakoso” music filmed in Santiago de Cuba, the birthplace of Frome based DJ Kamerum Cuba.
In the words of the film director, Eli Fantuzzi
BAKOSO reveals the influence of contemporary African music in Cuba as not just a thing of the past, but a phenomenon happening now! This documentary produced and directed by Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi, explores the technology, culture and landscape that forms the AfroBeats / Cuban fusion genre “bakosó”.
The film will be accompanied by traditional Cuban food (veggie and non-veggie) and followed by a 3 hour DJ set by the very talented DJ Kamerum Cuba (who also features in the “Bakoso” soundtrack) for your chance to let yourself go and dance to the unique rich variety of sounds and rhythms from the Afrocaribbean diaspora.
