Buffalo Gals – one of the most sought-after acts on the UK Americana music circuit, even though an international touring band, were actually born 20 years ago at a sell-out fundraiser night, in Frome!
Led by champion USA fiddler Kate Lissauer, Buffalo Gals’ intoxicating style is punctuated by the thrilling, traditional Appalachian step-dance and body percussion that has become a trademark feature of their shows.
Suitable for aficionados or newbies of all ages, this not-to-be-missed afternoon of Bluegrass, early Country and Old-time American music will be delivered in typical humorous style, with the flair and laugh-out-loud patter of funny front-woman, Kate.
Bring blankets, cushions, dancing feet and an appetite for a late-lunch of cowboy stew, along with drinks from the bar.
Since banding together in 2001, the line-up has changed very little and still includes Pete Dunn, dancer Sara Rose, Sue ‘Sooz’ – Feral-Beryl – Clare. Jolene Missing and, for this spring, dep-guest ‘Hippy Joe’ Hymas, known to many from Hayseed Dixie.
