It was the days after Christmas
And all through the house
It was a chaos of paper and spilt Famous Grouse.
Mum was exhausted and Dad had passed out,
When Great Aunty Joan gave a joyful shout
‘I’ve got it! It’s sorted! All children out of the house!
Down to the library for quiet games, shhhh, like a mouse!’
At this, Grandad breathed a huge sigh of relief,
And settled down to bask in the post-Christmas peace.
