After another success last year – lllyria Open Air Theatre return to the historic Elibethan Manor Farm in Corsley on the 6th August to perform Ruddigore, one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera’s. lllyria have a well deserved national reputation for outstanding performances so we are looking forward to another brilliant evening.
It starts in the Cornish village of Rederring. At his own wedding it is revealed that shy young Robin Oakapple is really Sir Ruthven Murgatroyd, heir to Ruddigore and its attendant curse: that each Lord of Ruddigore must commit an evil deed every day or else die an agonising death. Add to this a beautiful, virtuous heroine, a dastardly villain, a troop of professional bridesmaids, an old retainer longing for past glories, a snake-in-the-grass sailor, a wild mad girl and even some ghosts and so the story starts.
Come and enjoy a delightful evening of open-air theatre in the gardens, savour a pre booked supper served by costumed serfs and wenches whilst being entertained by strolling musicians.
Gardens open at 5.30 pm, supper is served from 6-7 pm and performance begins at 7.30 pm.
Tickets are now available. Adults £14, Children £7, Supper £8
