From Flax to Fibre

How is cloth made? Reconnect with nature by transforming flax plants into fibre for cordage and linen yarn.

A three hour practical workshop for adults 18+ with Simon and Ann from Flaxland UK who will introduce you to the processes of breaking, scutching, hackling and drop spinning flax.

This workshop is aimed at anyone in the community of Frome and surrounds who is interested to learn, as well as the flax growers who are part of the Sewing The Seeds – a community fibre project, which is part of the textile reuse network Everyone Needs Pockets. This event is part of Sustainable Fashion Week 2024.
