Frome – The Fecund Coming is Rare Species’ comic take on traditional historical walks with a few unexpected turns along the route.
Prior to lockdown our plan was to perform the original version for one last time during Bath Comedy Festival and then write, rehearse and perform the sequel (Fecund the Second – working title) at this year’s Frome Festival.
Obviously those plans were slightly scuppered by a global pandemic, the subsequent cancellation of both festivals and a bout of home schooling and creative malaise.
However, now, August 2020, with the support of the Cooper Hall Foundation, those plans are back on track. We are bringing out the original for one last socially distanced performance.
Back by popular demand on the 12th September. Back for a final post lockdown airing at the post lockdown knockdown price of £8 (that’s 20% off) Frome – The Fecund Coming returns!
Numbers are limited with tickets sold in 15 clusters. You may come alone (1 cluster) or in a bubble of up to 4 (1 cluster) with a maximum audience of 28.
Join ‘whistorians’ Virginia Saggers & Gerald Terd as they take you up the Via Delorosa and uncover some of the truths behind the town’s burgeoning success. What lies beneath Frome’s cobbled streets and why has it become such a popular location for hipsters and artisans to settle?
Peppered with humorous observations, cultural references, stories, poetry and song this 1 hour tour reaches the parts other tours cannot reach.
“Rare Species are skilled and sharp performers, adept at improvising comedy from any haphazard thing that happens on the way, before returning to the hilarious script. For incessant and imaginative laughs Frome – The Fecund Coming can’t be beat” John Christopher Wood
“A brilliant piece of immersive street theatre with unforgettable highlights” Crysse Morrison
