Future-proofing our local food network: A workshop

Join us for a conversation and workshop about Frome’s local food network and be part of shaping a greener, healthier future for the food that feeds our community.

This event for Frome’s food producers, retailers, restaurateurs, hospitality businesses and passionate local citizens will explore the findings of recent research into the challenges and opportunities of supplying our town with more local food.

We’ll be inviting people to discuss future approaches to growing more of our own food, shortening food supply chains, ensuring the food we eat comes from sustainable sources and creating a local food economy that benefits a flourishing local community in many ways.

Attendees will be invited to play a role in future food projects that secure a greener, healthier food landscape for Frome.

This event is facilitated by Future Shed Frome, part of the Lottery funded Green & Healthy Future Programme, and the research is commissioned by Frome Town Council’s Resilience Team with funding from Be The Earth.

We will be sharing original research commissioned by Frome Town Council and prepared by Hugh Thomas. Hugh is a food journalist, writer, and researcher based in Frome. He has a special interest in sustainable agriculture, and as part of this research, has interviewed over 20 producers, retailers, and restaurateurs who have an involvement in Frome’s food network.

This research was funded by Be The Earth Foundation. Be The Earth Foundation is a hybrid fund that combines for-profit investments with philanthropy. They believe that strengthening local and regenerative food systems is crucial for the future of humankind on planet earth.

This event will be co-osted by Frome Town Council and Future Shed Frome. Future Shed Frome is a space for people to come together to create a greener, healthier town in practical ways. Share your ideas, get support to bring them to life, join a practical workshop, make new connections and learn new skills, so that we’re equipped for a greener, healthier future. Future Shed is run by Edventure: Frome as part of the Green & Healthy Future for Frome project in partnership with Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council. It is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
