Hold Up: Amy Kolarides

In acknowledgement of International Women’s Day we are sharing the intimate micro-exhibition ‘Hold Up’ . Local photographer Amy Kolarides captures the raw, real, calm, inner strength of the women she photographs.

“As both women and mothers we all have failings, insecurities, awkward moments and a desire some days to remain firmly under the bedcovers but, when we feel understood, loved and appreciated by the people around us we find the best in ourselves.

We all just need to be seen.

In these portraits I wanted to capture the the raw, real, calm, inner strength of these incredible women. Whilst taking the photos I also talked with each of them about their children, worries, joys, memories and future goals.

There are at least 1000 woman I would love to ‘hold up’. To look at in the eye and simply say ‘I see you’. ”
