dotLib CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY HUB PRESENTS
INVENTING WITH VISUAL CODING – SCRATCH AND THE MAKEY MAKEY
Join Luke Woodbury of https://www.dotlib.org/ for this FREE experimental experience. We will be exploring coding using the ‘Scratch’ programming environment and the ‘Makey Makey’ board. We will use conductive items to control games and animations that we have made in Scratch.
Attendees will need to bring their own laptop and some items that conduct electricity. This could be fruit, veg, foil, playdough, liquids, pencil lead, a plant, metal items etc etc. With these items we will build an interface for a programme we build in Scratch. This could be a game, an animation, a musical instrument, a slideshow or anything you can imagine. We will do some group activities, maybe have a tournament and have some fun!
No prior experience neccessary. All ages welcome. Children need to be accompanied by an adult.
This day is structured as 2 x 2.5 hour workshops. Please choose your preferred slot when booking.
The workshop will entail:
• Demonstrations of equipment, materials, tools
• Demonstrations of techniques

• Creation of own programmes/interfaces as individuals or groups
• Group activities
