A performance by singer Howard Vause and pianist Graham Dent is a fine balancing act. On the one hand, style and panache, on the other, adventure and risk taking. Their broad repertoire extends from George Gershwin to Marvin Gaye, from delicate ballads to funk, every song oozing passion, sincerity and originality of interpretation… and they are still experimenting so anything may happen! And on this gig some Christmas songs are sure to find their way into the set list.
Howard has explored many styles during 40 years of music making. From the Northern rock bands of his youth to South West soul-folk and electronica to discovering latin rhythms, jazz and what became know as “world music”.
He regards each song as a spell ready to cast – full of mystery, truth and magic. His composition work today includes numerous soundtracks for both film and theatre. He is also well known locally as a creative video maker.
The band is completed by trumpeter John Plaxton, bassist Adrian Smith and drummer Jim White.
