For his ‘3rd Sunday’ jazz event at the Cornerhouse, pianist Graham Dent has invited singer Emma Harris to join his trio.
Emma is well known in Frome and beyond for her vocal expertise and professional performance. She is at home singing blues and gospel, jazz standards and the best of modern day songs (for example, from the repertoires of Anita Baker and Oleta Adams).
Over the last decade or two she has sung with the ‘a cappella’ group Naked Voices, recorded her debut album with Pee Wee Ellis, fronted jazz collectives such as with John Law, and sung in her more gutsy style in various funk outfits, notably Fat Stanley.
Behind the scenes she is a vocal coach for theatre productions and has led workshops in vocal improvisation. Currently she coaches the vocal group at the Jazz Factory in Bradford on Avon, with help from Graham Dent on piano. For the gig Adrian Smith is on bass and Rob Brian on drums.
