“The one concept that we are pursuing in New Zealand is simple and it is this. Kindness.” Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand.
What place might kindness have in the “cut and thrust” of adversarial politics in Britain? Could kindness be a politcal strength? How might kindness influence struggles for justice and equality?
In this one-hour discussion, Simon Keyes will be joined by three eminent speakers: journalist John Harris of the Guardian, Professor Barbara Taylor of Queen Mary College, contributor to the new book How Compassion can Transform our Politics, Economy and Society (joining us online), and David Warburton, our local MP.
Simon Keyes is Professor of Reconciliation and Peace-building at the University of Winchester and Advisor on Peacebuilding to the Diocese of Bath & Wells. He is a Frome resident who has a particular interest in dialogue.
