This workshop is for aspiring street food traders, food & coffee entrepreneurs, and people wanting to make food their business.
Demand for locally-grown, transparently-produced food has grown as the pandemic has exposed vulnerabilities in our food supply chains & we experience the importance of building resilient, sustainable local food systems.
It doesn’t matter what stage of your start-up you’re at -whether you’re starting with an idea or are already in the thick of it – every participant will leave with tangible next steps for your ‘food business’.
Besides the expert facilitators, everyone makes the day, and as participants, you will be invited to contribute your own experiences and ideas.
Bring some of your products or ideas if you want to get some input or feedback from the group.
Facilitators: Amy MacFadyen & Owen Postgate. Founders, The Rye Bakery
Amy & Owen have years of experience of setting up viable, ecologically sound food businesses. The Rye Bakery is a modern bakery, kitchen, play space & walled garden with values of transparency, quality and sustainability. With menus built on seasonality and quality produce, it has become a Frome icon.
Throughout the pandemic, Owen & Amy have continued to provide high quality, local food to the community, and also to diversify their business to meet local needs.
They say, “As we grow the bakery our business will hold the same values; to deliver products focused on flavour and farming that we think embrace our approach. We hope to continue to create trust between producers and consumers to improve the use of local produce and a sustainable food system”.
