Making Groups Work:
This course is for people who manage teams, work with groups in the community, run events, chair meetings, facilitate group coaching sessions, teach, or would like to learn more about making groups effective.

Ali Barclay
Ali originally trained as a nurse and then moved into community work. After her group work training she became a professional Facilitator and set up Oliver Barclay partnership. She has a wide range of experience in a variety of settings throughout the Public and Voluntary sector. Her principal interest is in Leadership Development through team and individual coaching work. She has taught on the post-graduate course ‘Counselling in Organisations’ at Bristol University and is involved in direct training with a variety of organisations. She is an Associate of the Bristol Business school and an ILM7 accredited Coach..
Neil Oliver
Neil originally trained as a Social Worker and then worked in residential homes for people with learning difficulties at a time of huge change as hospitals closed down. His career then moved towards Social Work management where he worked as a coach for social work students and then moved into Staff and Service development. His group work training was with the Family Planning Association where he also worked as a consultant for a while. Through Oliver Barclay partnership he has developed his role as facilitator and trainer, developing a focus on effective communication within groups. His work has been mainly in the Public and Voluntary Sector both in this country and in Europe. He has also worked as a consultant for SOLACE. He has an MA in Public and Social Administration from Brunel University.
