Marie Elliott (Mezzo Soprano) has established a reputation both as an outstanding operatic and oratorio soloist and also as a Lieder singer, performing at many prestigious venues, including Glyndebourne.
Described as ‘a near perfect Bach singer of the more carnivorous kind’, and having ‘a voice of such versatility, sounding equally at home in Baroque repertoire and the large-scale works of Verdi and Elgar’, Marie’s velvety toned mezzo soprano is a voice of truly international standing. In 2015 she set up a Baroque ensemble, Bath Consort, with whom she performs regularly.
In this lunchtime recital Marie performs two Romantic song cycles: Elgar’s Sea Pictures and Schumann’s Frauenliebe und -leben, accompanied by pianist Jacquelyn Bevan.
