An Opera double bill in the beautifully restored Holy Trinity church. A new production by Maarten van der Duin featuring Suzanne Smart, Timothy Coleman and Lukasz Biela with the London Gala Orchestra / Conductor Stephen Ellery. Bastien was written when Mozart was only 12 years old, and is about a boyfriend and girlfriend who try to make each other jealous. Bastienne asks a quack doctor to do some magic and put a spell on Bastien. A fake magician does this speaking in a made-up language. In the Coffee Cantata an angry father scolds his daughter for being addicted to coffee (the latest trend in those days). He won’t allow her to marry unless she stops drinking coffee. She finally only agrees to a husband if he is the sort of guy who lets her drink coffee. Family friendly comedy. A new production by Maarten van der Duin featuring Suzanne Smart, Timothy Coleman and Lukasz Biela with the London Gala Orchestra. The bar will be open for refreshments.
