Young People Frome is very excited to announce its first Music Industry Master Class Sessions.
In partnership with The Cheese & Grain, The Bert Jansch Studio and Frome College, funded by Somerset County Council.
These free sessions are open to anyone. The aim, is to increase accessibility to those working within the music industry. Creating opportunities for all to come and listen, learn, share and talk with music industry professionals, in an informal, intimate and accessible way.
Tristan Powell is a musician and recording engineer. He started his career at Abbey Road Studios, working with artists such as Pink Floyd and Kate Bush and has toured internationally as a guitarist and live sound engineer working with many artists including Van Morrison, The Who and Led Zeppelin.
John Leckie started as a tape operator at Abbey Road Studios working with George Harrison, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. As a producer he’s worked with bands including Radiohead, Simple Minds, Human League and The Stone Roses and won a Brit Award for Best Producer in 1996.
Sam Lakeman is a talented pianist and acoustic guitar player as well as an experience producer, engineer, song arranger and composer. He’s joined by his wife, Irish singer, Cara Dillon. Cara has risen to become one of the finest exponents of traditional Irish song anywhere in the world creating fresh interpretation of traditional folk standards.
Richard Mainwaring is a musician, composer, broadcaster and author of ‘Everybody Hertz’. He’s composed music for television and is a regular composer of Trinity Exam Board pieces. A classically-trained multi instrumentalist, he’s performed with musicians and celebrities such as Hugh Laurie, Karl Jenkins and Tom Odell.
Charlotte Clark is a singer songwriter who was hand-picked to join the touring band of Harry Styles. The pandemic put a stop to the tour and Charlotte set to work on her EP Warm Weather. She’s currently releasing singles from her upcoming EP Babygirl.
Dickie Chappell started as a tea boy at Real World Studios and worked his way up to their leading sound engineer. Dickie now works all over the world as a freelance engineer.
Dom Monks also began his career at Real World Studios working as Dickie’s assistant engineer. He later went freelance to work primarily with producer Ethan Johns. He’s now resident producer and engineer of the brand new Bert Jansch recording studio in Frome.
