Musicke in the Ayre – Latin Baroque

Join Musicke in the Ayre for a serene and often joyful hour of sacred works by Monteverdi, Strozzi, Lully, Charpentier and others.

Fluent in the newly-emerged musical language of the early Baroque which strove to move the emotions and gave rise to opera, these composers were able also to use it to touch the spirit, as illustrated in their glorious settings of Latin texts for 1 to 3 voices.

The ideal acoustic of Christ Church will allow sopranos Jane Hunt, Philippa Neaverson and Maria Danishvar-Wilson, accompanied by Din Ghani on archlute continuo, to make the most of this gorgeous music.
