From early detective stories to best-sellers of today, crime and crime-fighters are ever-popular in fiction and non-fiction alike. Three local writers explain their approaches to the world of crime: David Lassman’s ‘The Awful Killing of Sarah Watts’ is in the tradition of ‘The Suspicions of Mr Whicher’ and recounts Frome’s most infamous murder; Nikki Copleston’s D.I. Jeff Lincoln novel, ‘The Shame of Innocence’, was inspired by real-life crimes; while in ‘Girl Cop’, Sandy Osborne draws on her own experience as a serving police officer with her tales of ‘Bridget Jones in Uniform’ (My Weekly).
