Join us for a workshop on how to create or enhance a pond for wildlife within a garden, landholding or community space.
For nature to recover, we need for places for wildlife to live and thrive and, big or small, ponds can provide valuable habitat for a wealth of wildlife!
Pond expert John Dickson from the Reptile and Amphibian Group for Somerset will outline why ponds are fascinating and important, and how making new ones can have an almost immediate effect on local biodiversity. The workshop will cover basic pond ecology, construction, planting and management techniques, site selection, and some basic guidance on planning issues. There will also be the opportunity to look at a small lake on site at Somerset Earth Science Centre.
