Frome’s finest musical theatre performers attempt to produce a rock musical in just 24 hours. This exciting fundraiser celebrating the Merlin’s 40th birthday will present a real challenge as a cast of more than 30 performers led by Claudia Pepler and Ryan Hughes attempt to put on this major production in 24 hours. Rent is a rock musical loosely based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Bohème. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in New York City’s East Village in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
Book, music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson. This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd. on behalf of Music Theatre International of New York.
