RING OUT – TALK: COCKEYS, BELL-FOUNDERS OF FROME

Frome was, at one time, home to the firm Cockeys. Although better known today as being pioneers of the gas industry, an earlier family member had established a bell foundry here. Frome Heritage Museum holds items relating to the Cockey family’s bell-founding activity and Frome Society for Local Study’s yearbooks include articles on local bells and bell-ringers. David Lassman, writer and historian and trustee of both institutions, will give an illustrated talk about bells and bell-founding in Frome and refer to items from the Museum’s collections.
