Part of Frome’s Walking Festival 2021
Led by Les Stather, this linear walk links two Anglo-Saxon kings; King Eadred, King of England (AD 946-955) died in Frome in 955 AD; and his nephew King Edgar, King of England (AD 959-975) crowned in Bath Abbey in 973 AD. The route links Mendip Way East with the Cotswold Way.
The walk uses existing public footpaths and passes through Lullington, Laverton, Norton St Philip, Hinton Charterhouse, Midford and the first tunnel, Alexander Park, Bath Abbey.
The walk is 14 miles long, but walkers can drop out along the way, as the route passes multiple bus stops from Norton St. Philip, Hinton Charterhouse or Midford.
We are in the process of redeveloping the Discover Frome website, and invite you to share your views on the current site with us.
