This 2 hour taster session will introduce you to some ideas and approaches that aim to improve communication and make you more confident and better able to tackle tricky conversations. It aims to be engaging and interactive and will provide you with some concrete tools and relevant real-life examples.
WHY?
What other people say and do affects us constantly, whether they are family, friends, neighbours or colleagues. These relationships can be wonderful. They can also be difficult, confusing, stressful and tiring. Sometimes we want to address something that has annoyed or upset us, but we don’t know how to bring it up without “making things worse” or getting into a spat. Often this leads to relationships being damaged in the long run when bottled-up hurts and long-held resentments bubble over. This can lead to feeling “stuck” – you know that you would like to communicate more openly and honestly, but you don’t know how to achieve that.
This workshop aims to give you the tools and confidence you need to shift your communication style away from one of conflict, resentment and “stuckness” towards one of honesty, effectiveness and healing.
WHO?
This workshop is designed and run by Frome community group, Let’s Talk. All of their members have received some simple training in restorative conversations which has been really helpful in their own lives. They want to share this with the people of Frome in the hope it can be as useful and inspirational to others.
