The story of Frome is told in a new permanent exhibition at Frome Museum.
From its traditional founding in 685 as a missionary station through its various incarnations as a centre for the wool trade, an industrial powerhouse and, most recently, as an artisan and independently spirited place of cool, Frome has a fascinating and illuminating past to be revealed.
With many items not previously on public view, the exhibits trace the history of Frome chronologically and thematically and includes a Saxon axe head which supports the idea the Saxons may have settled in the area long before St Aldhelm founded Frome in 685!
Open Tues-Sat 10am-2pm throughout the festival. FREE ENTRY (donations welcome)
