Tellisford Mill is listed in the Domesday Book. By 1450 it had become a fulling mill, continuing as such until 1895 when a turbine was installed and it became a flocking mill. A year later the Mill burnt down. Although restored, it finally closed in 1912 when it was taken apart and everything except the turbine was sold.
The Mill was restored between 2002 and 2007 to become a power station. The rest of the building surrounding the turbine house was completed in 2011.
This event enables visitors to hear more about the history of the Mill, learn about the restoration project, and see at first hand how energy is generated today.
Three individual tours will operate on 18th June, at 11am, 2pm and 4pm.
