We’ve selected a few highlights to give you a taster of what’s on, but for the full run down, have a look through our events calendar or pop in to the Discover Frome Information Point.
Whatever it is you enjoy, we’d love to see what you’ve been up to so make sure you share it with us on Facebook or Instagram.
What’s on this February
Merge: Artists in Residence – until 23rd Feb
Explore the works of twelve textiles / mixed media emerging and rising graduates from Bath Spa University. The artists will be experimenting with a collaborative piece of work through social engagement. You’ll be able to view this work in the Long Gallery at the Round Tower at Black Swan Arts.
Post Punk Apocalypse / Complete Meltdown – 1st Feb
Following on from a very successful opening weekend, the team at The Tunnels (previously 23 Bath Street) are dedicated to bringing us a variety of live music, DJ sets and entertainment to dance the nights away. Complete Meltdown are supporting power trio Post Punk Apocalypse on 1st Feb – get on down and support local live music.
Donate IT Tech Amnesty – 2nd Feb
It’s that time of year again! Do you have unused or unwanted tech that is otherwise lurking in a drawer? DonateIT are a charity who specialise in taking tech off your hands, wiping all personal data and then either redistributing to people who need them, using parts for refurbishment or recycling them responsibly. Come along to Frome Town Hall to drop off yours.
Alice in Wonderland – 5th-7th Feb
Frome College are putting on their production of this classic tale at the Merlin Theatre for three magical, mysterious shows. After Alice tumbles down a rabbit hole, she finds herself in a strange world where everyone is raving mad. With a little help from some curious characters, she must find her way home. This production reimagines the Wonderland and ends in an unexpected new twist. Sound intriguing? Get yourself some tickets before they sell out.
Wassail – 8th Feb
An ever-popular event with Fromies, the annual Wassail returns to Weylands for a few hours of live music, mulled cider and apple juice, tying toast to trees, an opportunity to make your own willow bird feeder and more. If you’ve never attended a wassail before, or are a seasoned pro, head along to Weylands orchard (the green space behind Whatcombe Road) from 1:30pm – 3:30pm. There will also be a chance to grab yourselves a free heritage apple tree.
Apple tree giveaway – 10th Feb
If you can’t make the Wassail event on the 8th, or otherwise miss your chance to get your free heritage apple tree there, you have another opportunity! From 3pm – 4:30pm, FTC’s Tree Officer Helen Viner will be at the Rangers’ Yard in Victoria Park, giving out the rest of the trees. They will be available on a first come, first served basis and ready to be planted out in your garden straight away.
Valentine’s Lamp lighting ceremony – 14th Feb
Another firm Frome favourite is the lighting of the Valentine’s Lamp, an act that has taken place for over 30 years. You are encouraged to arrive at the lamp (situated at the top of Catherine Hill) from 5:30pm, where there will be mulled wine and live accordion music before the ceremony officially begins at 6pm. This year especially is not to be missed – Reg Ling, the lamp’s renovator and loyal lighter for over 30 years – is handing over the baton to new lamplighter Eddie Young. Spread the word and the love. <3
Frome Potato Day & Seed Swap – 16th Feb
Having established itself as a key annual tradition, the Frome Potato Day and Seed Swap serves as the perfect place for all your gardening needs. Whether you’re a seasoned horticulturist or just beginning to explore gardening, Potato Day offers all the essentials to get your growing season underway. The day includes gardening stalls, stalls from community groups, a community seed swap, free workshops, activities and films, all under one roof at the Cheese & Grain.
Canteen – 18th Feb
Moana musical theatre workshop – 20th Feb
Danceworks are putting on another fantastic workshop towards the end of the month, based on popular Disney film, Moana. This musical theatre workshop will encourage children to learn songs from the film, acting and dance skills, all whilst dressed up as their favourite Moana character if they wish to.
Frome Window Wanderland – 28th Feb – 2nd March
Frome’s Window Wanderland celebrates its seventh year in 2025 and is a great opportunity to unleash your creativity, engage with the community, and celebrate the artistry that our town has to offer. Taking part in Window Wanderland is completely free – whether you are yourself a Windowmaker, or simply following the trail around the streets to find as many beautiful windows as you can.
