Events Calendar Round-Up: November 2024

November is rolling in fast now that the clocks have fallen back, longer nights are drawing in and the weather is getting colder. But do not fret – Discover Frome is your one-stop-shop for events this month. Take a look at what’s on offer – its set to be a busy one!

Exhibitions at Frome Museum – until 16th November

The History of Cinema in Frome

Frome Museum’s autumn exhibition recounts the history of the town’s cinemas.

Since about 1890, five picture houses have been open at different times, all within half a mile of the Market Place.

Frome Memorial Theatre100 years of Frome Memorial Theatre

Frome Memorial Hall was opened in 1924, built by public subscription in memory of those from Frome and the surrounding areas who died in the Great War.

Over the years the site has been a theatre, a cinema, a dancehall and an events venue.

2nd November: Adventures at… The Town Hall

FREE arts activities. The only rule? Young people make the rules.

A hidden forest inside the Town Hall. A spooky escape room designed by young people. Rooms full of scrap for crafting. Invent your own game, build a sculpture, take on a challenge.

2nd November: Pumpkin Day & Harvest Swap

Come along to the Cheese & Grain on Saturday 2nd November for a day of celebrating local food. Facilitated by Frome Field 2 Fork CIC, there will be a community harvest swap, market stalls, free kids activities as well as free talks and workshops.

3rd November: Frome Independent Market

Traders and shoppers at The Frome IndependentDelicious local food and drink from street food vendors and Somerset Farmers Market at the Boyle Cross, gorgeous homewares, jewellery, skin care, art, ceramics, seeds, plants, vintage finds and live music.

10th November: Remembrance Sunday Parade

Frome honours Remembrance on Sunday 10th November, with a parade and service at the memorial outside of Frome Memorial Theatre. The service begins at 10:55am followed by a two-minutes silence at 11am.

16th November: Winter Charity Fair at the Cheese & Grain

Charity Fairs at the Cheese & Grain are designed to enable local church groups, charities and not-for-profit groups to
raise funds and increase awareness of their cause by selling homemade crafts and cakes, sweets, toys
and gifts or by running tombolas and raffles.

21st November: Frome Comedy Club

Gelos Network is thrilled to announce the launch of Frome Comedy Club at the Cheese & Grain. As the premier comedy club network across the Southwest, Gelos Network brings you top names from the comedy scene, as seen on Live at the Apollo, Taskmaster, 8 out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, and more.

22nd November: Christmas Lights Switch On and Lantern Parade

Frome’s Christmas Light Switch On and Lantern Parade returns! Friday 22nd November, 5pm – 7pm in the town centre. The theme this year is ‘Winter Woodland’.

Lantern artists Mel Day and Aliss Vaas are delighted to bring back the parade for the seventh year running. Let’s make it bigger and brighter than ever!

27th November: Trad Jazz at The Three Swans

The New Academic Feetwarmers bandThe “New Academic Feetwarmers” a 7 piece Traditional Jazz Band playing the music of old New Orleans – Hot Jazz, Happy Jazz, Blues, Ballads and Stomps.

8pm – 10pm at The Three Swans and it’s free!

30th November: Frome Festival fundraising gig

Book your ticket for Frome Festival’s Fundraising Gig at 23 Bath Street – all proceeds support Frome Festival and the amazing work they do.

Featuring Alberta Cross as a solo set, Something Moves, and BroccoliBoy.
