Events Calendar Round-Up: October 2024

October is almost upon us, bringing with it autumn in all its glory. Whether you’re keen to get those wellies on and get out and about, or opt to stay indoors, there is sure to be something to suit everyone’s tastes.

What’s on this October

Throughout October: Pick your own pumpkins!

pumpkinsPalette & Pasture have been very busy this year, growing all sorts for us to pick and enjoy. Now that its October, they’re inviting you to come along and PYOP (pick your own pumpkins) ready for the spooky season. Open every weekend during the month, as well as every day during October half term.

3rd October: Trio Paradis Café Concert – Vive la France!

Trio Paradis play a concert once a month at Christ Church, with a pop-up café where you can sit, chat with friends, enjoy a cuppa with a slice of cake and some live music. The theme for this month’s concert is music by French composers – pop along during your lunchtime and soak up the friendly warm atmosphere.

6th October: Frome Independent Market

Traders and shoppers at The Frome IndependentJoin us on Sunday 6th October for the next Frome Independent market. Delicious local food and drink from street food vendors and Somerset Farmers Market at the Boyle Cross, gorgeous homewares, jewellery, skin care, art, ceramics, seeds, plants, vintage finds and live music. Also look out for Frome Lanterns, selling their kits for this year’s Christmas Light Switch On and Lantern Parade!

6th October: Harvest Festival

Celebrate Harvest Festival with this family, fun-packed day at Vallis Farm. Meet the chickens and the sheep, and explore their market and kitchen gardens. Decorate a pumpkin, learn about natural dyes and have a go at preserving food for the winter pantry. They will be selling veg, preserves and plants from Vallis Farm and will have the pizza oven going and tea and cake on offer.

7th – 12th October: The Woodlanders Variety Show

A traditional variety show, in the spirit of the comedy greats with a unique Frome twist. Come along to this charity fundraiser and relax in cabaret style seating with an evening of fun and laughter. There will be comedy, music, dancing and songs from the shows.

13th October: Multicultural Frome

Frome’s ever-popular Multicultural Festival returns this year to the Cheese and Grain, with local people from around the globe sharing and celebrating their cultures. Including music and dance, language games, food and drink to try and buy and much more.

19th October: Apple Day

Apple DayApple Day returns after a 5 year hiatus! This free event is designed to bring people together in a celebration of Frome’s local environment, heritage, and harvest time. Activities on offer include crafts and games, apple pressing and tasting and making willow bird feeders. There’s also a chance to adopt one of 100 heritage apple tree saplings.

20th October: Loop Frome Compost Sale

On 20th October the Loop Frome team are hosting an autumn compost sale. The event will be opened by keen gardener and Town Mayor Andy Jones and supported by Frome town crier Martin Scott.

27th October: Cheese & Grain Wedding Fayre

The Cheese & Grain’s first wedding fair! There will be a hall full of businesses to help you plan your wedding: photographers, caterers, cake decorators, wedding dresses and suits, hair and make up, venues, bands and more.
