Events Calendar Round-Up: September 2024

September, of course, means opportunities for many – be it back to school, first days at nursery, moving away for university, new jobs… the list goes on. One thing that is constant is the wealth of events and activities taking place in and around Frome, so you can plan ahead and fill up some space in the diary.

We’ve selected a few highlights to give you a taster of what’s on, but for the full run down, have a look through our events calendar or pop in to the Discover Frome Information Point.

Whatever it is you enjoy, we’d love to see what you’ve been up to so make sure you share it with us on Facebook or Instagram.

What’s on this September

1st September – The Frome Independent

Join us on Sunday 1st September for the next Frome Independent market. Delicious local food and drink from street food vendors and Somerset Farmers Market at the Boyle Cross, gorgeous homewares, jewellery, skin care, art, ceramics, seeds, plants, vintage finds and live music.

3rd – 15th September (except 9th) – Palestinian History Tapestry

This exhibition of images of wonderfully intricate tapestries made by Palestinian women, mostly living in refugee camps across the Middle-East, reveals aspects of their history from earliest times, through the “catastrophe” of 1948 , to their struggle for statehood in the present day.

Every Wednesday in September (and a one-off on Saturday 7th) – Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch is a free, two-hour pop-up dining table where you bring your own lunch and sit with others. Crosswords, jigsaws, card and board games are all available, with prizes for the winners.

7th September – Heritage Open Day at Frome Museum

The museum will be hosting a talk by Mike Bishop, who retired last year after 17 years as Frome’s town crier. Mike will tell us about the history of the town crier tradition and about his own life as a crier.

They will also be running two of their ever-popular Behind the Scenes tours of the museum.

8th September – Free dog parkour and have-a-go hoopers

Join FTC staff and the team from Charismatic Pets for a fun, free morning out with your dog. No talent required; every dog takes home a rosette for taking part in the fun.

13th September – Vivaldi Four Seasons by Candlelight

Come and join us in the beautiful St John’s church in Frome to enjoy a wonderful evening of candlelit baroque music. Principals from The Bristol Ensemble, Bristol’s own professional ensemble, will perform some of our most loved baroque gems, culminating in the magnificent ‘Four Seasons’ by Vivaldi.

21st September – Big Clothes Swap

All you have to do to revamp your wardrobe is come on down with as many items of clothing as you wish in exchange for tokens.

24th September – Frome Charity Fashion Show

We are delighted to present a fashion show for 3 Charity Shops in Frome – Rotary, Barnardos and Dorothy House. There will be a huge collection of beautiful clothes modelled featuring all sizes and ages.

28th September – ‘Hidden Frome’ walk
