Live plastic free in Frome
Two students who have spent their summer placement at the Town Council have helped to launch Plastic Free Frome with a how-to video.
The video, created Lily and Maddie, highlights various places in the town where you can shop without plastic. These shops offer sustainable alternatives, giving you the chance to refill and reuse rather than throw out and repurchase.
The amount of plastic waste generated annually in the UK is estimated to be nearly 5 million tonnes, which can then take 500-1000 years to degrade. The video shows people just how easy it can be to make a change in your day to day life and reduce the amount of plastic in our environment.
A website dedicated to being plastic free in Frome www.plasticfreefrome.co.uk was also created which gives tips and advice on how to live plastic free locally. Any local businesses that would like their details added, or if you would like to get involved with Plastic Free Frome email info@frometowncouncil.gov.uk.
