Play Day

Mystical outdoor fun this Playday

Playday is the national day for play! It’s celebrated each year across the UK on the first Wednesday in August. So, this year it falls on the 2nd August.

‘Playing on a shoestring – making every day an adventure’ is this year’s theme and it focuses on the everyday low-cost or no-cost play.  Adventures that your children can enjoy at home and in our communities. It’s often the inexpensive, simple ideas which can be the most fun!

Cllr Anne Hills said: “The benefits of play are huge for all ages; from improved mental health and wellbeing to physical fitness and bringing the community together – the positives are endless! This is why Frome Town Council encourages play all year round and is supporting this Playday. We’re delighted to be offering these two options in Frome, the activities are free, so why not pop along and have a great time.”

Super Roots will be hosting a fun filled play session at Rodden Meadow from 1-3pm. Come and celebrate the great outdoors and bring a picnic to enjoy. The session is aimed at all ages and will allow attendees to explore and play in the wonderful natural surroundings of one of Frome’s most loved open spaces.

Or explore the magical surroundings in the woods at Welshmill.  Discover the hidden homes of Frome’s most charming inhabitants. By then the fairies will have set up home. There are 12 fairy doors hidden in the woods. can you find them all?
