Spotlight on Independents: Cafe la Strada
Born from a love of hospitality & community, Café la Strada or ‘Café on the Street’ has been on Cheap Street for over 15 years.
Owner Jude is proud to be adding to the history. “The building is very old and very precious. It’s lovely to be in charge of and a lot of love went into the renovation.” Café La Strada proves that it is possible to be independent and provide a sleek and polished environment.
This is an establishment that would easily slot in to Covent Garden. Open seven days a week, the baristas are highly trained and deliver a smooth service. Delicious Illy Italian fairtrade coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, a full food menu and several flavours of artisan ice cream.
People make use of the free Wifi, tapping away on laptops in the upstairs room, outdoor seating spans the length of the building. Their licence means they can serve alcohol and the spirits list changes constantly. It all adds to the continental feel. The food on your plate is freshly prepared in store, the ice cream made my hand on the premises by Jude.
The wallpaper is a constantly changing exhibition, a place for local artists to display and sell their work. ‘A breath of fresh air’ Find out more about them online www.cafelastrada.co.uk
