Three ways to spend the Easter bank holiday in Frome

A rare creature – the 4-day weekend – puts in its appearance this month. If you’re wondering what to do with all that free time, why not give some of it to exploring what Frome has to offer? We have a couple of suggestions to get you started, but for more ideas, you can always check our What’s On page.

Please bear in mind, business opening hours will vary over the bank holiday weekend, so its best to double check website and social media pages before you visit.

Spend the Easter weekend…

…foodie feasting

The town really impresses when it comes to culinary experience. We’ve listed some ideas below!

For the early birds, enjoy a breakfast or brunch at The River House, Projects, Little Walcot or Rye Bakery. Think delicious cooked breakfasts, eggs, pastries, vegan delights and more.

Lunchtime could take you for a hearty, nutritious meal thanks to the Tender Loving Kitchen at The Good Heart, authentic Turkish cuisine from Sterk, Moorish tapas from The High Pavement, or why not complete a world tour of food with tacos from ¡Ahuevo! Taqueria.

Head out in the evening to The Griffin, serving wonderfully fresh Thai food. If you fancy pizza or pasta, Castello have you covered, or an epic burger from Coop Kitchen @ The Ship. Bistro Lotte is the place to be if you crave classic French dishes, from steak frites to galettes.

…enjoying the arts

A creative town, Frome also has much to offer when it comes to arts and culture.

Currently, there’s a fantastic photography festival with many exhibitions located in and around town. You can read more on the Photo|Frome festival here.

If you are partial to a play, show, comedies, ballets or any other type of theatrical performance, Frome has not one but two theatres! Take a look at the programme of events at the Merlin Theatre and the Frome Memorial Theatre for inspiration.

If film is much more your thing, why not pay a visit to Frome’s very own independent cinema? The Westway is a wonderful little cinema with three screens, showing a variety of new releases. Plus, tickets are just £4.

Alternatively, the town is known for its thriving live music scene. Check out the Cheese & Grain, The Tree House, The Tunnels, Bar Lotte and many other local pubs and bars for local talent this weekend.

…walking, wheeling and other funs!

It’s officially spring, so why not start as you mean to go on by getting out and about? Frome is nestled in the gorgeous Somerset countryside, close to the Wiltshire border and the Mendips. Not only that, but the town has many other amenities to please every person, young and old.

Locally, you could express your artistic license with some pottery painting at Made at Nest, blow off some steam at Frome Boulder Rooms or let your competitive streak shine through at Arcade Fridays.

Enjoy some fresh air with one of our local walks and cycling routes, or simply take in one of our many beautiful green spaces. Not too far from our doorsteps, Longleat, Wookey Hole and Cheddar Caves all provide fantastic experiences for all the family.family cycling
