What’s On: February Half Term 2023
We’re fast approaching half term, so we’ve gathered a list of events and activities in Frome to help you keep your little (and not so little) ones occupied and entertained.
For more ideas of activities and local days out, you can also take a look at our Family Friendly page.
Paint your own pottery at Made at Nest
If you’re looking for something crafty to do with the kids but in your own time, then look no further than Made at Nest.
You can choose from a selection of over 70 different ceramic items to paint and enjoy a cuppa and piece of cake in the process.
Open Tuesday – Sunday.
Westway Cinema
If you need to get out of the house, but the weather isn’t looking good, then why not head to Frome’s fabulous independent Westway Cinema.
Next week you can catch family movies Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and Epic Tails for just a fraction of the price of other cinemas.
Frome Boulder Rooms
Frome Boulder Rooms are running special sessions all week from 13th-19th February.
Climbing and Craft club for 6-8 year olds; coaching for juniors aged 9-11; and coaching for ages 12-15. And kids don’t have to have all the fun – there are also family sessions running throughout the week.
Places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment!
Pirates & Mermaids Scavenger Hunt – 11th-19th
If you’re in need of fresh air, why not head over to Palette and Pasture for their pirate and mermaid themed scavenger hunt (and maybe even an ice cream!)
Collect every item to earn your treasure.
Winter Wildlife Week at Longleat – 11th-19th
Longleat has a week of activities planned to add to your visit this half term.
Enjoy arts and crafts, live performances and even a mini skating rink in the Longhouse.
Children can also solve a series of riddles around the park to earn themselves a certificate and prize.
Football Camp – 13th
9-13 year olds can enjoy an afternoon of indoor football with FA qualified coaches as part of the Young People’s Sport and Physical Activity project in Frome.
Basketball Camp – 14th
If football’s not their thing, 9-13 year olds can also take part in an afternoon of basketball with EBBA qualified coaches, also part of the Young People’s Sport and Physical Activity project in Frome.
Felt Hand Puppet Workshop – 14th
It wouldn’t be a proper school holiday in Frome without at least one workshop from local felt artist Bessie Bidder!
Join Bessie, and in two hours, turn some fluffy fibres into your very own hand puppet.
Dinosaurs and all that Rubbish – 14th
One small step for man, one giant pile of rubbish left behind! Man’s dream to reach the stars leaves the world in ruins and disturbs the sleeping dinosaurs. Will they wake up and save planet Earth?
Roustabout present an imaginative adaptation of Michael Foreman’s environmental tale with dancing dinosaurs, fuelled by rock’n’roll.
For ages 3+

Tri.Art invites 7-12 year olds to discover how plays are created and learn drama techniques in a fun, safe environment.
Skills covered throughout the session include devising, exploring text, stage craft and acting.
